The practice of Slow Style means applying the following 3 principles to how you shop, decorate and live in your home.
This is all about sustaining and supporting your life through style. Setting up your home so that it's beautiful is only part of creating a home you'll love. The goal is to experience true delight throughout your home, as often as possible, even in the most routine tasks. Therefore, your home has to work for you, not against you, in your day-to-day life. Your "dream" home has to be the one you're living in right now, not for an imaginary "some day."
This is all about the practice of creativity. Think of style as an action you take to express your vision. The act of changing things up in your home, in both big and small ways, on a continual basis, is how you'll learn the art of arranging, coloring and layering your home. You don't have to come to the table as a fully formed creative person. You just have to be willing to play with what you have and take notice of what works and what doesn't.
This is all about the vision you have for your home and life. Who you are changes over time and your style can and should reflect that evolution. Taking stock of what you love, both in terms of objects and experiences, is something that's done over and over again as you follow your curiosity about the world around you. And in turn, you'll use that curiosity to develop a visual autobiography in your home. It's not a once and done kind of thing, and there's no race to a finish line.
