We did a major bathroom reno quite a few years ago.
We replaced the lino floor with basketweave tile. We replaced the plexiglas shower insert with marble tile. (Ok, it wasn't real marble. But it really looks like it). We got a new tub, toilet and sink. The only thing that stayed was the wainscoting, which we painted.
We did...
So, this interview is so good that I didn't edit out very much. It's a bit longer than most we share here on Style Matters, and I even considered breaking it up into two parts, but honestly, I'm so excited about so many of my guests this season that I just don't have room in our schedule to extend this one! So, get comfortable because you're in for a lot of little gems...
My guest this week is someone who I kind of consider to be a friend, even though we've only talked once before, and that was on this show, and we've never met in person. His name is Sean Scherer and he's a painter by training and profession, and currently a passionate shop owner and creator of interior environments that envelope you in very particular atmospheres and...
My guest is Jessica Reilly the blogger behind Domicile 37. She has a degree in industrial design with a minor in interior design but these days, she's putting that knowledge into developing her signature style in her own home. And wow, does she have an incredible eye for design! I highly recommend you check out the show notes page for this episode to see photos...
I have a lot of professional designers on the show but I'm also inspired by people who are just really good at making their homes their own, without any training. Tiffany Brown is my guest today and she's the blogger behind My Eclectic Nest, which she does simply for her own pleasure, when she's not working her regular, full time job. What I want to highlight from this...
Emma Carole Paradis is one half of the design power-duo, Impeccable Nest. But her other half in the case, isn't just a business partner or a spouse, it's her mom, Kimberly Carole! And you're about to hear their story. You'll also hear us talking a lot about art. And rugs. And art. Because it turns out, both Emm and I belive...
This week is an episode of On The Little Yellow Couch (OTLYC) where it's just you and me. I'm going to share my Slow Style philosophy, which I've developed as a framework for you to create a beautiful, meaningful home. I'll explain what Slow Style means to me, and introduce 3 Pillars of Slow Style. They are:
1. Style Evolves
2....
I interviewed Lauren Liess quite awhile ago (in fact, I still had my co-host, Karen Grant), but that episode remains one of my favorites. And so does Lauren's book, Habitat: The Field Guide To Decorating.
She breaks the book into three main parts: The Fundamental Elements of Design; The Intangible Elements of Design; and the Room-by-Room Guide.
Why I love this...
Definitely in my Top 5 of all time favorite decor books is Novel Interiors: Living in Enchanted Rooms Inspired by Literature by Lisa Borgnes Giramonti. And that's saying a lot!
I suppose it's because she melds two of my passions, reading fiction and interior design. That, and because there is no other book like it, period, the end.
What Lisa...
